with us for the entirity of today and perhaps into the early part of tomorrow. we're looking at a wind advisory, the remains of nicole which are no longer an official tropical storm. it's broken up into a few pieces. every piece is thrown at central maryland. wind advisory with gusts of 45 miles an hour today. there could be a possibility of tornados with a watch extended to 1:00 p.m. for most of central maryland off towards the eastern shore and our states to the north and into the carolinas. rainfall could top 2 to 5 inches. flooding, almost a guarantee across the area. we have heavy rain right now around the beltway. severna park, annapolis, the orange and red shadings. there's more coming up the bay. rain over the central and southern portion of the chesapeake. here we go, 68 this morning. 75 this afternoon, it's about the building rain, big puddles on the roads, going to cause traffic problems out there. please be careful, we cannot extend this issue enough. do not drive if it looks like a puddle, it could be much deeper than it might be. be very cautious out there. we have accide

through the morning. we get that sun up by 6:53 and it does some work by this afternoon, bringing us to near normal. let's see what is happening on those roads. here is kim brown. >> we have fire activity in baltimore city that has the eastbound lanes right at falls road partially blocked because of fire and police equipment. so police are going to be out there providing drivers with the detours. keep that in mind. aside from that, we look around the area, no issues along the corridor. we are clear here in baltimore county. no problems southbound from hartford county. 83 looks good as does 795. megan, back to you. >> thanks, kim. there's new information this morning, the death of a 14-year- old from belle air who was hit by a car after crossing a busy intersection. the pedestrian lights at route 24 are on now, but state police received a number of complaints that they were not working on friday. the state highway administration is investigating, but meantime, friends and family of 14-year- old joey are trying to face the reality. they continue to stop by and pay tribute and hug at

. the fact that something near cuba of a tropical nature could reach us in a day or day and a half is in and of itself astounding. been really trying to work over all these computer models. there are a bunch of solutions. tropical storm nicole may reach maryland by tomorrow night or sooner. heavy rain will spill out ahead of it. either way you slice it, name or no name, two to four inches a guarantee, higher amounts possible, that's why we have ourselves a flood watch, at least through tomorrow evening. it appears as if we're mostly cloudy, high thin clouds, there'll be sunlight this morning, but the clouds will thicken up. look at the slug of moisture down the east coast. focusing on florida and southbound for what could be tropical storm nicole. increasing cloudy sky and showers arriving late. a high only 71. here's kim brown with a look at traffic. >> fortunately that rain's not going to affect us for this morning rush hour, unlike yesterday, a complete headache, this morning it's a breeze. we don't have problems on the area roadways so far. no delays as you make your way around

on this troubling story, joining us now is commander marla schuman of the vancouver police department. has bethany spoken about the motive yet? >> we had lengthy conversations with her yesterday. there's a number of things, obviously, we can't speak about because there's potential criminal charges. in terms of motive, i think the detective who did the interviews probably has that information. it's not yet been made known to me. >> and were you as shocked as everyone else, by her confession? >> truthfully, there were red flags from the beginning. we had some questions. and there were a number of things that really weren't adding up in the story that she was giving to us. so, we weren't quite as shocked. i think we're more shocked that somebody would be in that state of mind to actually harm themselves in that way. >> you're right about that. but can you tell us a little more about the red flags. what was it that she was saying and telling you that this didn't add up? >> i think initially, just the -- that the manner of attack, when she's talking about being splashed in the face with acid, and the d

been ranked the number one hospital in the country for each year over the last 20 years by u.s. news and world reports. >>> hospital violence is a growing threat. since 1995, there have been 256 reports of violent crimes in medical centers, a number that's risen over the past three years. >>> a 22-year-old woman is in the hospital this morning after police say she was imprisoned in baltimore county in an apartment and beaten. germaine smith-bey drove her to the medical center claiming they found the friend in condition. once she woke up from a coma two weeks later, they learned the so-called good samaritans are suspects. according to authorities, smith-bey and king repeatedly beat the woman and kept her locked into the reisterstown apartment. police say money was likely the motive in the crime. >> somehow they were able to get ahold of her bank card, and they were using her bank card to remove money from the bank machine, the money she was receiving from social security income. >> the doctors at gbmc found the victim. she's been blinded in one eye, part of her upper lip is missing.

>>> 6:31. thanks for joining us, i'm megan pringle. >> i'm jamie costello. it's bad out there. justin berk now with the latest. >> good morning to you, this is a busy morning here, we have a lot of stuff to talk about, we'll talk about the immediate area and get to the tornado warning to our south, may have an impact on anne arundel county. not under a tornado warning now. they may be shortly. we're watching a strong, strong storm. the remains of what was once a hurricane, i'm sorry, tropical storm nicole, it's going to feel like a tropical system here with winds gusting to 45 miles per hour. we have a wind advisory, we have heavy rainfall expected, uh, on average, probably between 2 to 5 inches, even higher amounts likely. and in between, the possibility of some tornados. i had one report from one of our weather watches on the eastern shore, they had lightning extended, which isn't common with a tropical system. we have a tornado watch until 1:00 p.m., all the orange-shaded counties in maryland which include carol, baltimore, harford, cecil, down through howard, anne arundel,
